Research and Development

Innovation is the key factor for the development of the Company on the Russian and world markets. The priority is to focus on pursuing work in the field of R&D.
In the area of research our Concern actively collaborates with leading international technological companies as well as public organizations.
R&D is being performed by R&D departments themselves in each line of business, as well as with the help of international partners, within the framework of cooperation with international research institutions, through venture funds.
Development engineers in R&D centres in Athens, Prague and Zelenograd are equipped with hardware, software and test tools in compliance with the highest international standards.
SITRONICS plays an active part in international research institutions. For instance, it belongs to IEEE committees on standardization in the field of telecommunications technologies, GSA association of microelectronics manufacturers and a number of other branch groups. This allows the Concern to be properly integrated into the world's scientific and technological trends so as to offer the latest innovative products and solutions to partners and customers.

Internal designs of Concern branches

At present a significant part of the R&D is carried out by business streams themselves. Within the branch of Telecommunications Solutions in Czech, Slovakia and Slovenia about 600 specialists tackle the solutions for new generation networks (NGN), OSS/BSS solutions including those for billing and rate-setting for mobile communications and housing and communal services as well as telematic solutions for transport fleets.
The Greek division handles the problems of wireless and broadband access, content delivery networks and IPTV-solutions. The major part of the telecommunications research is expected to be gradually moved to the corporate R&D centre of SITRONICS.
The Business Stream Information Technologies develops IT-solutions, business applications and various software. The development centre is located in Kiev, Ukraine.
The Research done for Business Stream Microelectronics Solutions is centered around Zelenograd at the premises of JSC NIIME & Micron. Micron has at its disposal a powerful R&D centre collaborating on an ongoing basis with more than 50 branch and academic institutes of scientific research and design centres. About 200 engineers and scientific workers at SITRONICS Microelectronics Solutions tackle the development of chips, smart cards, and RFID-solutions. The R&D amounts to 17 to 19% of proceeds annually which is common practice for innovative business worldwide.

SITRONICS Labs (SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE)

SITRONICS Labs has been established by JSC SITRONICS jointly with the Institute of Data Transmission Problems named after A.A. Kharkevich of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPPI RAS). This is a noncommercial partnership open to admit other academic institutes. Thanks to SITRONICS Labs the Company possesses a more long-term outlook for carrying out research, able to anticipate the market needs, to reduce the time taken over the development phase and to support its launch on to the market. The Organization participates in scientific research programs based on budget co-financing. The activities of SITRONICS Labs are focused on a number of priority areas. The Telecommunications segment is first of all oriented towards broadband wireless access and data transmission systems. Besides this, specialists are looking into the possibility of creating various types of electronic equipment for medical diagnostic purposes, as well as carrying out research related to public security: voice-recognition, movement tracking, object identification systems etc.

Collaboration with partners

SITRONICS actively collaborates with corporation-leaders of the hi-tech industry in the field of R & D. This makes it possible to combine resources, cut costs and meet the requirements of future customers. Examples of collaboration in the telecommunications area are joint projects with Cisco (network solutions for fixed and mobile communications) and Ericsson (3G network designs). In cooperation with STMicroelectronics, the European leader of the microelectronics industry, SITRONICS is conducting work on creating microelectronics components with a topological size of 0.18 microns.

International committees on standardization and integration of technologies

SITRONICS actively participates in international committees on the standardization of technologies and integration of research, for instance, in telecommunication committees IEEE, 3GPP, WiMAX Forum, microelectronics association GSA. This makes it possible to take part in elaborating standards, discovering technological novelties before they are finally embodied into commercial products. Participating in international committees helps to promote their own technical solutions and thus affecting the technological policy in the industry. Integrating into global scientific and technological organizations, SITRONICS may proactively discuss the advantages of either products or solutions with partners and customers.

Venture projects

Venture projects interest SITRONICS from the standpoint of gaining access to young companies or groups of developers having promising designs or products. Participating in venture projects helps to save the resources of the Company and gain a foothold in the future of highly competitive products. SITRONICS takes part in a number of venture projects in the field of telecommunications in Israel, the USA and other European countries. The key partner of the Company is Sistema/Coral Fund where SITRONICS is a co-founder.
